Will of Robert Gawn of
Halftown, Co. Antrim, Ireland
In the name of God, amen, I Robert Gawn of Halftown, parish of
Donegore and County of Antrim, farmer, do make this my last will
and testament in manner and form following. Viz. I leave my farm
in Halftown with all my interest therein and leave thereof to my
son William and his heirs together with all the stock, crop and
farming utensils, household furniture on said farm at the time
of my Decease with all my money also and my said Executors to
manage for my son during the remainder of his minority and if my
son William Gawn die a minor without lawful heir, I order my
farm in Halftown to be valued and given to James Gawn son to
Andrew Gawn at one half of the value and I order that half of
the value of my land with all the remaining money to be divided
equally among my three brothers children, and Sarah's children
living at that time with my sister Elizabeth all to get an equal
share, only James Gawn son to brother Andrew to get no more but
my land at half value.
To add I appoint James Murdock Junior of Halftown, Andrew Gawn,
Halftown, James Ferguson, Ballybracken to be my lawful Executors
to set my land. I order my Executors not to set my land to no
man except he gives security to give up same land and houses in
as good order as when he got them. I order them likewise to
school my son William and if finding him wise and fit to manage
it, I allow my son William to get actual possession of my land
at the age of seventeen years. I likewise allow my Executors to
auction my entire stock, crop and farming utensils, household
furniture except my mahogany table and six chairs I allow to be
lodged in my Brother Andrew's till my son gets into possession
of my land and then to farm and as soon as the money comes to
hand it is to be given out for interest if finding a sponsible
man and good security.
This my last will and testament in witness thereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of December
one thousand eight hundred and nineteen.
