Admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance and transferred to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 23 January 1918 (severe injury to ankle); to 54th General Hospital, 27 January 1918; to England, 25 March 1918; admitted to War Hospital, Edmonton, England, 25 March 1918; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 2 April 1918; discharged from hospital and marched in to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 5 April 1918.

Marched in to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 18 May 1918; taken on strength of Machine Gun Company Details, and marched in to Training Depot, Grantham, 31 May 1918.
