DOCTOR KILLED.
Melbourne Crossing Accident.
MELBOURNE. Monday.
Dr. Robert John Fullerton, 65, of Reservoir, was killed
instantly to-night when his motor car was struck by an
electric passenger train at tile Epping-road level crossing,
Reservoir.
The motor car was dragged 167 yards from the crossing to a
point 17 yards inside the Reservoir station before the train
stopped.
Reservoir is eight miles from Melbourne.
Dr. Fullerton's body was shockingly mutilated. Portions of
the motor car, which was wrecked beyond recognition, were
strewn from the crossing to the station, and a great deal of
woodwork along the permanent way was
torn
up, including the signal apparatus, portions of the
sleepers, and an engine turning table.
Dr. Fullerton was returning home from Melbourne when the
accident occurred. The train struck the motor car when it
was half way over the crossing, and broke it into two
pieces. The front part of the motor car was pushed along in
front of the train, and the other half, with
Dr. Fullerton in it, was dragged along entangled in one side
of the front bogey of the leading carriage. The wreckage In
front of the train had to be cut away with axes.
Until six weeks ago, Dr. Fullerton had been practising in
Camberwell, Melbourne.
Mrs.Fullerton and a grown-up family survive him.
