The Imported Clydesdale Horse LORD SALISBURY.

LORD SALISBURY is by Young Conqueror; g-sire, Old Conqueror, the property of James Kerr; g-g-sire Renfrewshire Jock, the property of Samuel Clark ; g-g-g-sire, Lofty, the property of Samuel Clark; g-g-g-g-sire, Fancy, the property of Mr Eskings ; g-g-g-g-g-sire Old Clyde, the property of Mr Frame. Dam, Darling, by Tinlock. Sire of Young Conquerors was Mr Andrew Logan's Lord Clyde.

Lord Salisbury is a pure Clydesdale, and was bred by Mr Cunningham, Tarbreode, Dalbeattie; and was foaled in May 1875; is a good brown, with three white legs and white face, splendid feet and pasterns fine flat hard bone, with beautiful hair on his legs, and quality all over such as is rarely to be seen.

Lord Salisbury was exhibited as a yearling at Ayr Show in May 1876, and won first prize; at Ardrossan he won first prize; at Kilmarnock, in 1877, when a two-year-old, he won first prize, with medal for best horse in the yard. At Dalry, in 1877 he won first prize; at Ayr in May 1877, first prize: Glasgow, in May 1877, first prize; at the Royal English, Liverpool, July 1877, first prize; at the Highland Society's show, Edinburgh, July 1877. first prize. He was shown at Dunedin In 1881 getting first prize, also first prize and champion horse at Dunedin and Taieri Shows, in 1883, 1884, 1885, and first prize and champion, Dunedin in 1886, he being debarred from showing at Taieri Show owing to being champion horse three years in succession.

First-class grass paddock provided for mares from. a distance, at Athol Bank, East Taieri, for which 2s 6d per week will be charged after four weeks. Mares sent by rail and consigned to Robert Gawn, Mosgiel, will be promptly attended to. Every care taken, but no responsibility. All mares sold or exchanged, the owner at first service held responsible. Terms:— Seven guineas ; 3½ gs payable at the end of the season, and 3½ gs when the mare has proved in foal. Lord Salisbury (114 N.Z. .Stud Book), was imported from Scotland by Mr J. F Kitching, Moa Flat station, at a cost of 1500gs and he has retired from the show ring an unbeaten horse.
